About Our Service

ACCURATE FAULT FINDING WITHOUT THE MAIN DEALER GUESSWORK

At The Motor Medics Coventry, we believe that car diagnostics should not be a guessing game. When a warning light appears on your dashboard, it is not just a sign to replace a part. It is a clue pointing to a system that needs proper investigation.

We go beyond simple code reading. We analyse live engine data, test circuits, and physically inspect the likely fault path so we can identify the root cause before recommending any repair.

Common Symptoms

THE KIND OF FAULTS WE TRACK DOWN EVERY DAY

Not every warning light means disaster, but it does mean the car is trying to tell you something. We use the symptom to guide the right tests, not to guess at the repair.

01
Engine management warning light

Engine

Engine management light

Usually points to an engine, fuelling, emissions or sensor fault. It is one of the most common reasons drivers book diagnostics.

02
ABS warning light

ABS

ABS warning light

Often linked to wheel speed sensors, ABS rings or wiring faults. Braking may still work, but the anti-lock system needs checking properly.

03
Airbag warning light

Airbag

Airbag warning light

Usually an issue within the restraint system such as seat connections, crash sensors, clocksprings or module faults that need fault-code tracing.

04
DPF warning light

DPF

DPF warning light

Common on diesel cars used for short trips. The real cause can be soot loading, failed regenerations, or a related sensor issue rather than the filter alone.

05
Tyre pressure warning light

Tyres

Tyre pressure warning light

Can be low tyre pressure, a puncture, a valve sensor issue, or a system reset problem. It is quick to notice, but not always quick to diagnose properly.

06
Oil pressure warning light

Oil

Oil pressure warning light

This can be serious. It may be low oil level, pressure loss, switch failure or an internal lubrication problem, so it is worth checking before more damage is done.

Diagnostic Process

WHAT YOU'RE ACTUALLY PAYING FOR

A proper diagnostic is a sequence, not a guess. Each step builds on the last so the final recommendation is backed by evidence.

01

Full module read

OBD-II Scan

Read active, pending and stored fault codes.

02

Sensor value checks

Live Telemetry

Compare real-time sensor data.

03

Physical verification

Component Test

Verify the likely component, wiring or supply.

04

Clear next step

Report & Quote

Explain the findings and next repair recommendation.

The Honest Explanation

CODE READING VS PROPER DIAGNOSIS

Many garages read a code and replace the part it mentions. We take a different approach, starting with the root cause, not the code.

A fault code is a starting point, not an answer.

We physically test wiring, supply, leaks, and mechanical conditions to confirm what's really causing the fault before replacing anything.

HOW WE HANDLE IT

1

OBD-II Scan

Read stored and pending fault codes.

2

Live Telemetry

Compare real-time sensor values.

3

Component Test

Verify wiring, supply, and the likely component.

4

Report & Quote

Clear explanation and next-step recommendation.

"They are friendly, knowledgeable, and most important honest company. I took my car to them after being told by another local garage, that I needed my front calipers replacing, as well as discs and pads. They quoted £1100 + vat. Which is crazy for a 13 y/o kia. The Motor Medics checked the calipers are fine, discs and pads for nearly £1000 less. Great work and communications at all times. I cannot recommend them enough."

"Very happy with the service. Their quote was £200 cheaper than the garage that did my MOT and they were able to do it far quicker. Very pleased and thankful"

"So happy with the service recently received from these three amazing guys. Having never heard of them (despite living nearby!) but reading excellent reviews on a local village facebook page, I decided to give them a go … and im just so glad i did! They diagnosed & fixed my poorly little cars multiple problems. A tiny glitch occurred not long after the major repairs, which they kindly sorted in minutes with no drama. Im so happy to have finally found a decent, trustworthy & professional mechanic, who i can rely on. Location and convenience of appointments also fits in with my work/life 🤩HIGHLY RECOMMEND🤩"

FAQ

DIAGNOSTIC FAQS

What does a diagnostic check actually tell me?
A diagnostic scan retrieves trouble codes from the vehicle's ECU. These codes indicate which system is reporting an issue. We then use this code as a guide to perform physical tests to isolate the exact broken part, rather than just guessing.
Can you turn off my warning light?
We can clear the fault codes to turn off the warning light, but if the underlying fault isn't repaired, the light will turn back on. We always resolve the root problem so the light stays off permanently.
How long does a diagnostic test take?
Most standard scans are completed within 1 hour. Complex wiring faults or intermittent errors can take longer, and we will always keep you updated.
